Transition Day

Transition day is a day when different grades visit the grades above the,, for example, grade 6 will transition to grade 7 because next year, all the grade 6’s will all be in grade 7. Transition day is basically a day where you meet different teachers from the grade above you they will introduce you to all kinds of new things that they/you should be expecting when you come back to school from your summer holiday.

Today, our class, 6D visited a grade 7 teacher in 7D so she could talk to us about the different expectations or changes that we should expect in grade 7. I thought “transition day” is very special because you get to learn more about what will happen in the following years and what kind of changes are suppose to happen.

The grade 7 teacher our class visited spoke to us about the 2 main things we must really focus on: “Organization” and “Independence”. She explain why and it was because there is a big gap/change from going to grade 6 to 7 because in grade 7, we have to switch.change classroom according to different classroom your classes are in, and if you are not organized enough you could fall behind. The grade 7 teacher also spoke to us about having “Day 1” and “Day 2” through out the upper&middle school. She spoke to us about our marks/expectations in grade 7 because we will be marked differently, for example, during the lower school we all have rubrics/charts that includes our final assessment/understanding about what we have learned, and we are assessed on that by “Approaching, Meeting and Exceeding”, in grade 7 we will be marked by the numbers from 1 to 7.

I think moving from the lower school to the upper/middle school would be very fun, exciting, surprising and full of changes and experiences. But I am also pretty nervous/scared about the grades, it would be a whole new level and I think I am half ready for it! Here we come MYP!

The first term of Grade 7 has passed. I believe that your transition is very smooth and you are quite successful in the learning results. :)
