Yesterday was the day that I presented my exhibit/findings. During the evening at 6:30PM, we had the grade six opening ceremony, at 7:00PM it was our time to shine, people that presented on June 5 (yesterday) had to explain and talk to any parents, visitors, students, teachers, principles etc about their area of focus and central idea of how it relates to the transdisciplinary theme, concepts, attitudes, central idea, attributes etc.
I expected last night to be really fun, exciting and of course, hard, and I was right, When I presented, there were a lot of teachers from different grade and parents who visited my booth and questioned me. I think I did great, because during the afternoon yesterday, I was a bit nervous because of the questions that teachers, visitors, guests and students will ask me, I was also worried during the afternoon yesterday. But, last night I did better than the afternoon because it was basically warm up for me to get me ready for the evening when parents come.
There are five different aspects in this unit “Where We Are In Place And Time”, such as “The Orientation In To Place And Time”, “Personal Histories”, “Homes And Journey’s”, “Discoveries And Explorations”, “Relationship between the Interconnectedness Of Individuals And Civilizations From Local And Global Perspectives”.
My favorite aspect is “Relationship between the Interconnectedness Of Individuals And Civilizations From Local And Global Perspectives”, because my area of focus that I am working on during the exhibition so I gain more interest and knowledge about how individuals and civilizations are connected. I also like this aspect because it is very broad and I thought it was very interesting and fascinating to learn about who in the past has changed or impacted our world and how we live today.
My least favorite aspect is “Homes And Journeys” because I don’t really know a lot about that aspect even though it would be really fun to learn more about it and gain a deeper understanding. But, in the past, I have investigated in to a topic similar to homes and journeys so I want to learn more about other aspects.
From this wonderful and fun experience, I learned that doing/working on the exhibition could be difficult and frustrating but when you start to present your finding and become an expert on your area of focus, you will understand and see how much fun you could have is you work together as a team (cooperation).
If I could do this investigation/exhibition again I would try and use my time even more effectively, because I didn’t know how it feels to be under pressure caused by how much time you have until its the exhibition. I also would decorate/plan my booth differently and add more graphs, pictures, photos etc so my booth could look more attractive next time I lay it out, because now I understand what it takes to have an attractive booth so more people will come and visit your exhibit.
I learned a lot about the central idea after investigating through my area of focus during the exhibition because our task was to prove our central idea right, so me and my group gained a better understanding of the central idea because of all the research that we have done during the investigation. I learned that the central idea is very true because in the past, individuals, discoveries, explorations, inventions etc has shaped how our world is like today because of the impact that individuals, inventions, explorations etc has caused different things/events to happen and anything/every action in the past has and will affect the present and the future of how we live today.
I think overall, me and my group did very well while we have investigated in to four different individuals, I also think that my group and I also did a very good job while we have presented our findings on Tuesday, June 5th, 2012.
I want to let the second group know that presenting your findings in your booth, I also want to tell people that the Grade 6 2012 PYP Exhibition is only a one time thing, and I want people to know that we all worked really hard until this point. I will really miss the exhibition, but now I think all of the people in grade 6 are ready to move on to the MYP!
Lastly, I really want to thank all of the people, teachers, principles, PYP coordinators etc that helped us and made the Grade 6 2012 PYP Exhibition happen. Thank-you!
