Introduction:
Our class was teamed up in to groups and we have to work together as a team to collect data in different place such as the Aberdeen Mall, Pacific Place, Graham Street and The Zhao Qing Mall. We had to find out how marketplaces are organized, operated, where it is located and who are the community members that go there. We also had to interview people about our investigation that relates to our Transdisciplinary Theme and our Central Idea.
Transdisciplinary Theme:
How We Organize Ourselves.
Central Idea:
The organization and operation of marketplaces is determined by the communities in which they are located.
Big Inquiry Question:
How are marketplaces around the world organized and operates in the communities in which they are located?
Supporting Questions:
1. How are marketplaces organized?
2. How do marketplaces operate?
3. What are the needs of the community?
4. Where are marketplaces located?
5. Who are the community members?
The purpose of this investigation is to gain a deeper understanding about the organization and operation of marketplaces around the world and the communities in which they are located.
Zhao Qing Mall:
The whole grade 6 went to Zhao Qing to collect some data on our marketplace investigations, we had to go to a mall and interview customers and the shopkeepers. Comparing the Zhao Qing mall to all the other marketplaces, we have collected the most data.
Pacific Place:
Before going to the Zhao Qing mall, our class went to the Pacific Place to collect data because comparing it to the ABerdeen mall/square and the Graham Street, we wanted to go the Pacific Place mall because it is a bit different than the other markets so we could collects data to contrast and see what the similarities are.
Aberdeen Mall+Aberdeen Square:
When we went to the Aberdeen mall, we didn’t really interview anybody because the information desk person said that we are not allowed to so we only did some observations so we could observe the environment.
When we got to the Aberdeen Square, we got to walk around and talk to people who are just waiting for people, resting or having a walk to collect data on what kind of products they would buy when they got to the Aberdeen Square.
Graham Street:
Graham street is a street/wet market, we chose this market to go to because it is kind of different to all the other markets, all of the other marketplaces are malls. We collected data about what they sell and which kind of community members go there and shop for food and other products etc.
After we have collected data on the different marketplaces we have to analyze data and collate and sort data. Interviewing people for data has been a fun experience for me.
