Math Investigation

Today I’m going to tell you about the math investigation we are doing at school. We have to pick a partner to work with and investigate about your topic. Me and my partner chose Geometry as our investigation in to our number system because we thought we could explain to our class what is geometry.

To present all of our data that we have collected using the Mcleod Inquiry Framework, we had to transform it in to a tutorial so we could present it to a class including a lesson that we have to make.

We have to use the “Mcleod Inquiry Framework” every time we do a investigation. The “Mcleod Inquiry Framework” is about steps in collecting data. First you have to define purpose, it is to understand why you want to investigate about this topic. Then you have to write down all of your Prior Knowledge, in to your google docs/process journal. Next is Develop Issue, it is for you to understand you topic/issue you are going to investigate about. Then you have to Create research plan, that is for you to plan ahead and backwards so you don’t have such a hard time knowing what to do in the process. The you have to Collect Data, it is a step were you just get information from sources eg, people, internet, books etc. After you have collected you data, you have to Collate and Sort Data, it is a step where you have to organize all of you information/collected data in to a chart, graph in whatever way you want, but you must categorize your data by the research questions. The next step is Analyze Data, in this step you have to combine all of your data in to categories. A very important step is to Draw Conclusions, you have to review all your data then make a concluding paragraph out of you data.Present Findings is a step where you present you data/information you have collected by and presentation like, poster, slideshows, letter etc. Last but not least is to Determine and Take Action, in this step you have to really care about the issue to take action and do something for example your issue is air polution, then you take action by hangning posters and riding the bus instead of a taxi or car.

Now me and my partner is ready to present our tutorial on Geometry to help our class gain a better understanding in our unit.
