Yesterday, I had a little goodbye class party since I am leaving CDNIS for Singapore in a few weeks. I also made a short Speech to tell my classmates and teachers about how much fun I had in grade 5 and how much my class meant to me. This year meant the world to me because it was a very remarkable year , we not only learned about global issues such as children’s rights under the UN Convention, we also learned about bodies of the opposite gender!!! The Disco DJ’s were the only grade 5 class who made a class music video, totally original and super fun to take part! Although it feels like I will be losing many friends, I am still proud that I will soon be going to UWC and I will make new friends there… I will really miss my friends and especially my teacher Ms Cahusac, SHE is what made our class the best one ever!!! Goodbye, my mates :):):):):):)

Hello everyone, for the past two days we have been going to different classrooms experiencing “Simulations” which contrast lifestyles and have been acting them out. Examples of the simulations are getting addicted to a video game, being a physically disable person at Immigration checkpoint, being in a pitch black room with SCARY sounds such as Thunder, rain, whispers and mostly different voices, etc.

My favorite Simulation was the DARK room with strange spooky sounds. For the Simulation to be really fun you have to use your imagination. I imagined being in Africa as a poor person with my father and a brother in the midst of a very loud Thunder storm. What I learned from that was most homes in Africa are tiny and made of scrap metal so rain echoes very loudly making it extremely noisy if you are hovering under the roof. While imagining to be in Africa, there are other scary problems too such as organ harvesting which is when people are kidnapped, their organs are removed and left to die so that others could live by using the victims’ organs. It is unimaginable how painful it would be to have someone cut you open while you may not even be under anesthetic…

The Simulation also taught me that to live as a physically disabled person could be terribly challenging, we should never take a healthy life for granted.

Another interesting fact is that people can actually be so addicted to video games that they literally starve themselves so that they could continue to play endlessly!!! I guess addiction could be a very serious and life threatening matter…

Thank you for visiting, hope you enjoyed it and comment to keep in touch !!!

A SLLR is basically a day when you show and tell your parents what has been happening in class when you are at school. I did not think I needed the SLLR because my parents already always ask me when I get home what I did at school. Also, at dinner I talk about the highlight of each day so they know pretty well what we do in school.

So when it was time for me to do the SLLR, it felt repetitive and I was a bit nervous that it would not be very interesting. My friends felt the same way. Fortunately it didn’t go badly, my parents were actually happy to see how much I have learned.

I think what made it fun was the different stations we had set up to show our parents what we learned, we did this in different classrooms and different floors. The way we showed it made the whole SLLR more fun. At the end, my parents were proud of me and this made me realize the SLLR helps my mom and dad to understand how we learn.

Today, I am going to write about our class field trip which was to find the artifacts that the class had made in a previous activity. It was very fun because we got to go to South Beach to find other people’s artifacts and put them back together.

There were three parts to the activity. First, the artifact that I built was a Chinese coin that was broken into 5 pieces. One of the students in 5B had to look for the pieces deep in the sand and put it back together.

Second, my challenge was to find an artifact that was buried in our plot, but it was very difficult because it ended up being in 17 pieces. I found all the pieces but only had time to glue back 6 pieces at the site. It was a really hard challenge.

Third, I had to look for my artifact in the 5B classroom. It ended up being on one of the first desks I looked, so I guess it wasn’t that much of a challenge.

Thanks for reading my Post.

Hi, today my class and I went on a field trip, which was to the Hong Kong Museum of History which has a lot of exhibits about old HK. It was very interesting so let me share some of my experiences with you.

First of all, the museum was a really big place. The most interesting topics to me were the exhibits on war, how businesses evolved particularly the restaurants and shops, as well as the information on the wildlife of HK.

The exhibit on wars were about the ones that took place between the Japanese and the Chinese. The pictures showed soldiers carrying rifles with knifes at the tip. I guess this was used to ensure your opponent could be killed by shooting or stabbing. Very violent unfortunately…

I also saw an exhibit about shop houses from the past which sold herbal tea and very weird types of food which I did not recognize. I know it is not but one item looked like Beef Wellington, because it had a beef steak inside and a pastry wrap outside. It looked really tasty.

So this trip to the museum was actually very helpful for our new unit about HK’s Past. I do recommend you to go there if you need information about the city’s history!!!
