There are currently 10,000 people seeking asylum in Hong Kong. The need for supporting refugees is greater than ever. I have been involved with RESPECT(Refugee Educational Support Program) here at our school. The club works in conjunction with The Refugee Union, which is the first refugee-led society registered in Hong Kong since 2014.
The vision is to help safeguard refugee rights and improve the protection and well being for the future of our community. My CAS experiences have allowed me to engage with this serious issue. While protecting refugee rights is important globally, my time with RESPECT has allowed me to address the issues faced by those in our local community.
RESPECT has made me more aware of the issues faced by those around the world. Being able to interact with individuals who have expeirenced hardships has made me understand the situation at a deeper level.
