Last week, I had a fun time in Beijing for 5 days. We did a lot of things like sightseeing, bargaining for $20 Beats, climbing the Great wall and we ate a lot of food. I think during this trip, I was a risk taker because I climbed the hardest parts of the great wall and I made it I also think that I was principled because I didn’t fool around or get in trouble. (actual results may vary) On this trip, I got to meet a new friend called Zhi Wei. He was really nice and did pretty much everything with me. The biggest challenge on this trip was the Great wall because the terrain was so broken it was like stepping on sand. Blocks were missing, and the stairs were very steep. Also, I had a very fun time bargaining at the Pearl market. The prices there were so high we had to bargain for 1/10 of the price they offered. A lot of the shops there said no, but once we started walking away, they started shouting lower numbers The original price of my beats were $300, so when I said $20 she said no. Then I started walking away and the owner said $150, then 75$. The farther I walked away, the lower the price. $25! $20! Then I walked back and I got them for 20 dollars Overall, this trip was very fun and could possibly be the best week ever!

In science class, we just finished a court case to prove if KMT (Mr. Kirchner) is true. There is a prosecution and a defense team and we had individual exhibits to prove and disprove KMT. After we presented everything, the Juries decided that defense and prosecution had the same amount of votes, which in real life would mean that we would have to do the whole case again, but since this is “Science class,” we didn’t have to redo everything and left it as a tie. I agree with the jury because 1, both sides had valid information. 2, both sides also had some incorrect information, which might have affected the jury’s decision. 3, I mean if we did disapprove of their judgements, we as witnesses could not change them anyways. 4, a few people might have been bias as they are close friends with people from a certain team.

During the investigation, our substitute teacher told us not to take any pictures or write down any notes, which I thought was very… interesting, so we had no solid evidence. I think I would have been a lawyer because we could ask questions which would stump the other team which I like . And yes I know im evil. I have learned a lot about my investigation which was finding iron in cereal. I never knew that looking at iron in foods was possible until we did this investigation / experiment. I think I have improved as a creditable scientist because I know how to refer to my sources of solid information (science books and photos) but unfortunately, there were no photos for this experiment which doesn’t prove my point as a creditable scientist

Overall, I think that this unit was very entertaining especially the court case because there was a lot of funny moments.

In math class, we had a unit all about patterns. I think the thing I like the most about this unit are the practices. I think they are very entertaining and fun to do. I really didn’t like the homework workbook too much because I think some of the questions are too hard and we haven’t learned it in class, so I couldn’t answer the question. I think I learned the rules for the x and y charts very easily. I think the pattern unit is very important because if we find out patterns in real life, we can make out identify real life patterns easily such as calculating how much money someone has. Overall, I think that this unit was really helpful to me and fun.

In science class, we had to make an undiscovered bird species. My strength of my bird is that it can run away from prey quickly. My weakness is that it can not kill its prey as fast, so it has a chance of getting away. I think my time was used sufficiently outside of class because I had time to brainstorm my ideas and do it in class. I think I used my time in class well most of the time, besides the time where I wanted to change my idea from sculpting to drawing. Overall, I think I made good use of my time because I could finish the drawing and adaptations done on time. If I had to do it again, I think I will stick with one method of doing my bird. I think I will give myself all 4s out of 6 because although it wasn’t the best drawing, it wasn’t too bad.

In the movie and article, human ingenuity and environment get into conflicts at times. In the movie Lorax, human ingenuity destroyed all the trees that were left because they wanted to make thneeds for humans. All the creatures of nature left the country because of the pollution the thneed factory was making. In the article the man-made beach, human ingenuity has taken over and people fear that it will kill 200 marine and bird species that live near the shore. Overall, I think that human ingenuity is a better aspect for this situation because humans have overpowered nature and I don’t think it should be here in the first place.

Our group had a lot of ups and downs with this project. For example, the day we were supposed to set up, we found that all of our information was gone, but we still had our pictures that we had printed up, so we had to improvise and vocally explain everything in our booth. We have also had a lot of good experiences, like when we had to come up with what we were going to put on our booth. I think that I have learned a lot from this exhibition and it was very fun.

The only concern I have about this group is that we might not finish in time. I am not saying that it is impossible, but because our group argues a lot about what we are going to do and how we are going to do it. Also, I continued researching my our big questions and I continued making my supporting questions. Overall, this was a very stressful and tiring week.

EXHIBITION!!! This week, we were off to a great start and we got a ton of things done. I personally really liked this week because it feels like our group is going somewhere. Our class also did a small math test, which was a mix of a lot of math subjects we have learned ever since we started Grade 6. Lets talk about the exhibition so far. At first, I wanted to investigate into war, but then I guess that the teachers thought that I wanted to investigate into political war, so I got put in a group that had to find out about political tensions. After a while, we got switched to doing colonial issues because we thought that the topic or so called “Area of Focus” was way to broad, so we got switched to colonial issues. Overall, I really thought this week was very productive and I hope next week we can do as much work as we did this week!
