M.U.N

by 043076 on May 23, 2013

For my M.U.N country I did the Dominican Republic. This exercise requires me to compare my country with my partner’s country. So I’m comparing The Dominica Republic (mine) with Pakistan (Scarlett). Our similarities are that we are both in the UN, we are both LEDCs, both countries have presidents. Then the differences are the population, surface area, coastline, and language.

Thai Land 2013 Experience Week

by 043076 on May 15, 2013

Thai Land 2013

During May 6th to May 11th, 111 Grad 7 students went to Thai Land in the Chang Mai province. The reason being is because this was the grade 7 Experience Week. About 120 students and staff attended this trip for 6 days. We stayed at the Maekok River Village Resort, which is near the border of Burma and Chang Rai.

During the Experience Week, I was a Risk – Taker because during the confidence course, which is an activity I did there. I scared to complete it, so got a lot of encouragement and at the end I completed but I still fell in the water. The point is that I now I have more confidence in my self and I over come a fear, which was to complete I course like that. Also, I was a communicator because during the trip I had to share one room with 6 boys and my roommates were different from every body in our room. We all had different backgrounds and personalities. So, then our room was getting messy and being invested with bugs. So, I said we needed to clean up and keep dirty shoes out of the room. So, I had to communicate to my roommates, to get our room clean and tidy without any bugs. At the end we won the cleanest room award!

Our trip over to Thai Land was tiring because we had to wake up at 4 am to be at the airport at 5 30, then at the airport we had a problem with checking in because our group was too big. So, 7F (my class) had to check in individually. Then we had to board our flight to Bangkok first, then to transfer to go to Chang Mai. The flight from Hong Kong to Bangkok was 4 and a half hours longs and when we arrived at Bangkok. We had to wait at the airport for around 4 hours because our flight was in the afternoon and we arrived in the morning. So, we got to go eat and hang around there. At 2:30 pm we left to Chang Mai and our flight was 1 and a half hours. When we arrived in the Chang Mai International Airport I could see, so many differences from where I live. We had to get on a bus to get to our resort and since our resort was close to the border our ride was about a 2-hour drive. When we arrived at the Maekok River Village Resort it was about 5 o clocks.

At the resort, all the instructors gave us tours of the resort like where we were staying, where we could go, and the resort. After they briefed us on how things were going to work and what’s going to happen daily. This was all on the first day. Over that week, we had to be organized with our time because in-between activities, breaks or eating times we had free time for an hour. That time gave us time to chill out, swim, and get ready for the following activity coming up. I found this system and how the trip was organized helpful for me and useful.

Activities; for the activities during the Experience Week we did a variety of things we did a hill tribe hike which was about 26km. I found that hike really long because it was very hot in Thai Land and the some part is was very steep. We also, did this activity that was called the confidence course, where we would have to do these obstacles over water. In one part of the course I was to scare to do a part, which was, we had to lean on a rope to get to the other side. Then, there was archery I found this activity a little difficult for me to do because the bow a little heavy for me to hold. The rest of the activities were; rock climbing, jungle survival, Thai cooking, and community and service. Out of all of the activities I did during Experience Week was doing the Confidence course because I found that activity very fun and it help me over come some fears.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed Experience Week and I hope next year for Experience Week it gets even better! Some suggestions for the next years students; I think there should be more choices like where to go and for Thai Land the students should do more activities.

Habits (TAP) Health and Social Education

by 043076 on February 7, 2013

1.WHICH HABIT DO YOU FELL YOU DO WELL? WHY?

I think I do well in the first habit which is “Being Proactive” because I think before I do and I have a very balance. For example, I go swim after school and I have math and english tutorials for extra help. This means goes with a very balance life because I get exercise and some more education life. I also, get breaks which are very important because that gives me time to do what I want, so i can stay motivated for the rest of the day.

Math Overview Reflection

by 043076 on January 25, 2013

This unit was about Patterns:

What I like during this unit was making tables, then finding out the rules, because I really liked doing that because it was easy for me and up to my ability in math.

What I didn’t like in class was finding the rules for un constant tables because i found it hard to figure out and understand. I will improve on this.

I think the thing I learned really well was making tables and finding rules because i was really focus and enjoying learning this new function in class.

I think the study of the pattern unit was important because I can relate to it in real life and help me when i get into other grades.

This will help me in life because it will help be more organized and show work more clearly.

My Bird

by 043076 on January 24, 2013

The Weak side of my bird: Know as the Mud bird its down affects can be fatal, like so when sleeping it can be defenseless, and when it gets hurt it will not be able to fly any longer of its life time. Although, its affective sides a helpful because it has strong muscles and wings for flight and gliding. The process of the making; was good and fun because we had enough time to do it. Also, I think the work i did outside of class helped but not a lot because i only came to do work outside for only 30 minutes which didn’t do a lot. I used my time in class effectively, because i got the making of the bird done and I was on task. I did all my research and tables as homework.  My time management, was effective because i made mini goals of what to compete, so i finish all my paper work in 2 days and got straight to work on the construction of my bird.

Shi Huang Di Reflection

by 043076 on January 9, 2013

The preparation for my Shi Huang Di project. During this task I was mostly absent, so I feel that i let my team down but I included my share of information. On the day we started we planned the poster and presentation. We did change these plans because we thought we could improve on it and got started. In the creation of the poster I was absent for two day 2 days, so i couldn’t help with the background and deciding on the information for the poster. What we did well in this assignment was working together as a team, staying on task, our time management, and being organized. Next time, I think as a group we should have more focus on the plan.

The presentation of the group’s work was well organized. I found that our timing was excellent because we didn’t hesitate when it was our turn to speak. Next time, I would like to have more responsibility for speaking because I only spoke two sentences. We achieved the goal of our assignment because we answered the question that was given.

Hike To The Peak

by 043076 on October 3, 2012

On Friday, My grade went hiking from the Hong Kong trial up to the peak, which took a couple of hours. Our mission was to take photos and to investigate the 5 A.O.I.s while we were walking up there. For example to find samples of leaves or to see what man has done to nature.
