I do not agree with the jury’s verdict. They agreed with the prosecution team and said that KMT was a fraud. This is not a good conclusion because the prosecution team had less evidence of their claim. We presented evidence of many of the different KMT points.

1. That the M&Ms with the least amount food coloring dissolved in the water fastest. – That means that the M&Ms with the least food coloring particles took the least amount of time to dissolve. (Proves the particles exist)

2. When Jonathan heated the particles of water then added the food coloring the food coloring spread out much faster. (Proves more heat = particles move faster = more kinetic energy)

3. The prosecution’s evidence was very limited. Their main claim was that particles were not seen by anyone on the defense team. They needed better evidence (In my opinion).

4. In my experiment when the ice melted the amount volume of the liquid increased. This proves that the particles in a solid are closer together than the ones in a liquid.

5. The prosecution team asked questions that did not make sense and that did not relate to the case. The only question they asked is that if we saw the particles throughout the case. They also kept asking is we used a STM which is unrealistic.

During the KMT court case my job was to be a lawyer for the defense team. I fulfilled my responsibilities during the court case and the preparation for it. I made sure that all the expert witnesses were finished on time and that their exhibits proved at least one point of the KMT. I collaborated with the other lawyers on my team to make our case successful. We created a google doc so that the expert witnesses in our group also knew what our case was going to be like.

If I could have chosen another job during the court case I would chosen the bailiff because it seemed like an interesting job. They were responsible for making sure that both sides of the KMT case had seen the other team’s evidence. They were also responsible for making sure that the transitions between the pieces of evidence were smooth. This seemed like an interesting job to do because it helped the court case run.

Through my trials I learnt about many different things. One of the biggest things I learnt (in my opinion) is about particles in solutions and solutes. All solutions have to be made up of two or more substances, a solvent and a solute. A solute is the substance that you add to the solvent. A solvent is the substance that dissolves the solute. An unsaturated solution is a solution that you can still add more solute to. If you add more and more solute then you will get a saturated solution in which the solvent can not dissolve any more solute. A super saturated solution is when you make a saturated solution and they you heat it up. This allows for the particles to move with more kinetic energy. In turn making the solution expand a little creating more room. This allows the solvent to dissolve more solute.

I think that I improved my observation skills because I had to keep a really close eye on my experiments. I learnt how to take note in minor changes to what was happening. This allowed for me to make more elaborate notes in my journal.

I really enjoyed this unit!

I think that the most challenging part of this unit was the communication. This is because I can easily grasp the concepts but it takes some time for me to be able to explain them.

I really liked this unit because of all the models that we did. It helped me visualise the problems so I could explain them a little clearer.

I enjoyed working with the line graphs the most in this patterns unit. I enjoyed plotting the points on the graph and connecting them to find a pattern.

I did not like working with the tables at first, but after I got the hang of filling them in it was much easier.

I think that I have learned how to find a rule really well. At the start of this unit I wasn’t sure how to but now I can find it easily.

I would like to find out how many different lines the numbers on the graph could make. I know they can make straight lines, curved lines and lines that start up high but then go down. Are there more?

The study of patterns is important because it helps you make connections between numbers on the page and the problems in real life. It can help us in life by giving us the skill to quickly figure problems out.

Here is a picture of one of the graphs I made:

If I were to do this poster over again, I would try and make it have a clearer solution. On my poster I forgot to put how this could be fixed. I originally thought that leaving it open ended was a good idea, but now I realize that it would have improved my poster greatly. Some possible solutions would be: Think before you talk, beware of your actions on the people around you, and ask people to join in with you! Another thing I would do differently is the picture of the hands. To me the picture kinda made the poster seem cheesy and not realistic enough for the topic. If I took a photo of them shaking hands or doing something else.

I think that my design’s best feature is the contrast in the white background and the skin tone hands. This contrast in colours make the hands pop out more than the background would if it had been yellow (as an example). I also think that the typeface I choose was good because it matched the theme of my design (despite having no ‘).

My poster should be considered for publication by the USSC because it shows that people can work together! My design shows a positive, continue doing ____ approach to it where most of the other posters have things that say don’t ____ and ____ is not good. I think that a positive approach will make people want to follow the instructions more than the negative posters. Also, despite the problems with my poster, my poster is successful.

In the article and the environment and human ingenuity are both relevant.

Human ingenuity is relevant because it is something that us humans are building.

Environment because when the new beach is built the marine species will have to relocate to a new place.

These two have a lot of conflict when it comes to expanding land. One of the main problems is that when the beach is made it will take up a lot of marine life’s space. Some environmentalists are worried that the new beach will cause 200 marine species to be wiped out.

Overall think that the environment is the more relevant AOI for this issue. This is because all though humans are inventing this new beach the marine life is really the one that is being effected by this creation. This is similar to the Lorax because the animals were forced out of their habitats because of the pollution. The environment was suffering to with the creation of Thneeds. The trees took 10 years to grow and they were chopping the trees down without planting new ones. They ended up chopping all the trees down!

In conclusion the beach will probably have the same effects as the Thneeds on the environment because we are forcing the marine life to relocate. Therefore the most relevant AOI would be the environment.
