For the math exam, I thought that I was not able to meet my full potential and was not able to meet my normal scores. I feel that this was because I did not manage my time well enough when studying so I was not able to go deeply into every single unit we learned this year, also I did not get enough sleep the night before the exam and I believe that was one of the reasons why I did not perform well, this led to countless careless mistakes. When I got my exam back and looked at the numbers of questions I got right, I was very disappointed as I knew that I could have done better. For the 1-2 questions, when I look back at it, I knew that more should have been correct as they were basic equations and questions. For the 3-4 questions, surprisingly I did better than the 1-2 questions, and got the same number of questions right for the 5-6 questions. I think this may be because I did not start from the very bottom when studying, I only knew how to do the complicated questions, but the basic/simple ones I forgot how to do them. I think I could improve my score for next years exam by managing my time more effectively, sleeping earlier, and also using a math study guide on Moodle which Mr. Luciani provided. I believe that if I do the above a little better, I will be more successful in not only my math exams, but also for any other exam.
Here you can see my surrealism and my masterpiece!
1st Piece: For my surrealism piece I chose 10 different objects (Jellyfish, Plants, Trains, Elephants, Flamingo, Crowns, Water, Column, Clocks, Fire) and then I made them surreal by making them bizarre and unreal.
2nd Piece: For my masterpiece I chose to do a portrait of Mr. Bean/Rowan Atkinson, because I think he is very well known from the young and the elderly.

These are three different artworks. The colour, texture, and value sketches, I hope you guys like it! 🙂
Color: For my colour sketch, I chose to do a sunset. I used many different colors to blend together to make a beautiful sky and sunset.
Texture: For my texture sketch, I did a dragon because I thought that dragons a really nice texture.
Value: For my value sketch, I did a lighthouse. I did this because I thought that the contrast between the light and dark sky would be really good for my value sketch.

Last week almost all of grade 8 travelled to Guilin for our CAS week trip. We took the afternoon flight from HK to Guilin, which took about one and a half hour. When we got there we would be spending a whole week in Guilin and Yangshuo. We did a huge variety of fun activities during the trip, which included kayaking, cooking class, biking, rock climbing, etc. During this trip I demonstrated various learner profile attributes. I demonstrated “risk-taker” during this trip because whenever there were something new to experience or try I would do it without a question. For example when we had dinner on the first day of the trip, I noticed that not everyone tried everything, but I did and I thought that everything was very delicious. I was also balanced in the trip because I had a good amount of time sleeping, hanging out with friends, and also a little time to prepare for some school. I believe that after this trip I have gained a lot of new experiences, such as caving. Caving was really new to me but I was really exited for it, in the cave I learned about many different cave types and what lies within a cave, I thought that it was very interesting. Another great experience was rock climbing, this was because I have never done rock climbing with real rocks in nature before, I have only climbed the man made ones I knew this was going to be a challenge, but in the end I was able to complete it!
All in all I thought that the Guilin trip was a really great one, and I got to meet many new friends as well! 🙂
