Grade 9 Simulation

by 043015 on May 27, 2011

Hi! Yesterday, Grade 5b and 5D had a simulation with the grade 9s. We were all separated into colour groups. I was in the dark blue team. Each group had to participate in 3 activities. My group went to the Immigration, the Refugees and the CyberSafety. In, the Immigration, the grade 9 girls gave us a fake identity card to use it to fill in some forms and pass the obstacle courses to get to Canada and get a job. I was  a blind grandma so I had to use a blind fold to go through all the obstacles. It was quite hard, but I had a friend help me to go through everything, and I loved it. In this activity, we learned that it it not as fair for disabled people, or elderlies to go through a lot of immigrations just to get to another country.

For the Refugee, we had to find some bottle caps, plastique bottles etc. to earn money for food and housing. We were separated into groups, the girls group and the boys group. Unfortunately, we lost, but we still got a piece of candy at the end. Throughout the whole simulation, I think that this was the best activity. We learned that refugees have to go through a lot to pay for food and housing. In CyberSafety, I learned that we should always becarefull on the internet, you never know if someone is a hacker or not.

I enjoyed this grade 9 simulation very much indeed because they all worked very hard and were very creative. This was a great adventure with the grade 9s and I really would love to do this again if I could. I think that this was definitely worthwhile, we learned a lot, and at the same time we had loads of fun. Great job grade 9s!
