In all of our math lessons, I think learning the binary system is the best. This is because it was fun learning and an enjoyable lesson. I learnt a lot of things in this lesson. For example binary numbers only use “1″ and “0″ which is a base 2 system, binary numbers only have the amount of 2,4,8,16,32 and so on. I also learnt that this is what the computer system uses! the most interesting thing is you can figure out peoples birthdays too! It was also hard to learn the concept of how to find out other people’s birthday. You first have to understand how it works, then you need to know how to know which numbers to add and a lot more! In the end, I think doing the binary system was the best lesson in our class’s lesson.

A very engaging piece of writing regarding Binary numbers. From this writing I can see that you understand how we move up the bases when we run out of numbers. This shows me that you have a good understanding of place value.
Although, I am left wondering, ‘Can this student make a general statements about place value?’
