Overdrive for Grade 2 (E-Books)
This week students from Grade 2 each received Overdrive accounts which they can access all summer long. Overdrive is an e-book platform where students can check out books to read on electronic devices such as iPads, computers, Nook HD/HD+, Kindle Fire and Kindle HD (unfortunately Overdrive e-books cannot be accessed by some e-readers such as Kindle Paperwhite at this point).
To access their account and checkout books students must go to CDNIS Digital Library and enter their username and password (both of which are the student ID number). Books can be borrowed for 7 or 14 days and can be downloaded or read in the browser.
Titles Available for Checkout
Students may check out any title from the Lower and Middle School collections, including popular series like Judy Moody and Stink, Ivy and Bean, A to Z Mysteries and Harry Potter. Students will see titles from our Upper School collection but are not able to check these out with a Lower School account. I encourage you to explore the collection with your child to see which books are available.
The Overdrive platform contains chapter books (fiction); students looking for other types of books such as picture books and non-fiction titles can visit one of our many databases such as Tumblebooks, Big Universe and National Geographic.
If you have any questions about Overdrive or any of our databases, please feel free to contact Colleen (firstname.lastname@example.org) or me (email@example.com) for more information.
Happy reading everyone 🙂
