Digital Identity

This week I joined the grade 6 students as they explored their use of the Internet and how their online behaviour is related to their own online identity. The focus of the lesson was to begin formulating a plan of action for;

  • how they want to be viewed by others on line
  • what they are willing to do and not do online
  • making choices and decisions about who they want to become.

We had lively discussions and some reflective moments as students considered what the adults in their world might be worried about with their increasing online presence. They also learned that making a plan now for their ‘bottom-line’ or non-negotiable behaviour online can empower them in years to come when faced with an ethical choice online.
