Thank you for your on-going support of the Grade 8 trip to Guilin-Yangshuo. With respect to the Avian Influenza Virus (H7N9), we are comforted to learn that there are no signs of ongoing, efficient or sustained human transmission of this virus. The World Health Organization have clarified that avian influenza (H7N9) has so far been detected in samples from pigeons, chickens and ducks, and in environmental samples from live bird markets (‘wet markets’) in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang provinces. We wish to emphasize that your child’s health and safety is our top priority. We will maintain the safety measures we have put in place but please be advised that we will remove pork from the list of banned foods as there appears to be no danger from this food source. However, poultry products of all types will be removed from the menu.
Thank you.
